En la penumbra donde el mármol respira frío y las antorchas apenas tiemblan, aparece la figura del Praetoriani. No avanza: vigila. No posa: existe. Su presencia no pertenece al campo de batalla, sino al territorio más peligroso del Imperio: el silencio del palacio.

La lorica musculata negra, gastada en los bordes por años de servicio en Palmira y Ratisbona, absorbe la luz como si fuera piedra húmeda. El escorpión dorado de su escudo —símbolo de veneno, precisión y sentencia— brilla con una intención que no necesita palabras. El pugio, visible, no amenaza: recuerda.
Su mirada fija, sin emoción, es la de quien ha visto morir a hombres y emperadores sin alterar el pulso. Su postura contenida, casi escultórica, lo convierte en una presencia más del propio palacio, como si hubiera sido tallado para custodiar un umbral que nadie nombra.
El estandarte Vetusta Victrix LEG XXI cuelga detrás, testigo mudo de una vida de disciplina y obediencia absoluta. Nada en él es teatral. Nada es heroíco. Todo es inevitable.
Bajo su altar, la inscripción reza:

PRAETORIANI (Sub Silentio Palatii)

In the half-light where marble breathes cold and torches barely flicker, the figure of the Praetoriani appears. He does not advance: he watches. He does not pose: he exists. His presence does not belong to the battlefield, but to the most dangerous territory of the Empire: the silence of the palace.

The black lorica musculata, worn at the edges by years of service in Palmyra and Ratisbon, absorbs the light as if it were damp stone. The golden scorpion on his shield —symbol of venom, precision, and judgment— gleams with an intent that needs no words. The pugio, visible, does not threaten: it reminds.
His fixed gaze, devoid of emotion, belongs to one who has watched men and emperors die without altering his pulse. His contained, almost sculptural posture makes him one more presence within the palace itself, as if he had been carved to guard a threshold no one names.
The standard Vetusta Victrix LEG XXI hangs behind him, silent witness to a life of discipline and absolute obedience. Nothing about him is theatrical. Nothing is heroic. Everything is inevitable.
Beneath his altar, the inscription reads:
